Midland, Texas – Randall was on the brink of elimination coming into Friday Game #2 vs the Yellow Jackets and after getting their 32 game winning streak by the Yellow Jacket on Thursday night in a close 3-2 defeat, the Raiders would need to win back to back games to advance to state.
Game #2 Started and went scoreless through several innings just like Game #1 did until the 5th inning Sophomore Dylan Ray hits a line drive to left field that scores two runs for the Raiders, that is all that was needed for the undefeated Senior Duncan Bowles to finish off the Game and get the victory for the Raiders winning 2-0 over Stephenville and setting up a GAME 3 TAKE ALL!
Game three was another suspenseful scoreless game, you would think you were watching a remake of Game 1 & 2 with both pitcher not allowing much through several innings until the unthinkable happens in the top of the 5th inning, Carson “CC” Hafner gets a a triple to start the inning, 2 more Raiders get on base with once them being an intentional walk to load the bases for Texas Tech Commit Junior Hagen Shedd. Tou couldn’t have scripted this moment any better, 2- Outs, 2 Strikes, 2 Balls and what happens next will forever change the history of both programs …. Hagen hits a G-R-A-N-D S-L-A-M TO LEFT FIELD that ultimately ended up giving the Raiders the victory and changing the history for Randall as they advance to state for only the second time in school history and for Stephensville unfortunately marks an end to a remarkable season with only being a couple of inning away from not only advancing to state but possibly upsetting and breaking the internet with a series win over top seeded Randall.
This series treated both sides of fans to an extremely entertaining series that will be talked about in West Texas for years to come especially how Randall was able to rally back but not only winning the series but how they won Game #3 to seal the victory and continue the magical run the Raiders are on!
Randall heads to Austin where they will face Liberty-Eylau in a one game series with the winner advancing to the State Championship.
